Our approach is integrative, meaning we draw upon a range of evidence-based therapeutic models to best support your individual needs. We will work together to develop a shared understanding of your difficulties through a collaboratively developed formulation, which will guide what support will be most helpful for you.
Our main therapeutic approaches are:
CBT focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that contribute to emotional difficulties. This model provides practical strategies to manage the difficulties in the here and now.
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements) whilst processing distressing memories to reduce their emotional impact. This is used primarily for processing traumatic experiences, however EMDR can be used for a range of emotional difficulties.
NET is a trauma-focused therapy that helps you to create a chronological narrative of your traumatic experiences. By externalising these memories into a coherent story, the therapy aims to reduce their emotional intensity.
This approach emphasises the development of self-compassion and kindness towards oneself, and aims to reduce self-criticism.
MBT can help us to reflect and increase our understanding of our own thoughts, feelings and intentions, and those of others. This can be helpful in interpersonal relationships and supporting us to learn to regulate our emotions more effectively.
ACT encourages the acceptance of difficult thoughts and feelings, whilst focusing on living in line with your personal values, in order to support you to live a life that feels rich and meaningful.
